Dr. Lisa Thouas, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Lisa Thouas is a Registered Clinical Psychologist that provides psychological assessment and

treatment services for

  • Children and teens with:

    • Anxiety (e.g., excessive worries, fears and phobias, separation anxiety, anxiety realted to attending school, social situations, giving speeches, panic attacks)

    • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

    • Sleep difficulties (e.g., difficulty sleeping in own bed, falling asleep or frequent night wakings, anxiety related to going to bed at night)

  • Adults with:

    • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

    • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

    • Anxiety (e.g., excessive worries, phobias, social anxiety)

Dr. Thouas has specialized training and experience in several treatment modalities, including:

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

  • As well as trauma-specific treatments including:

    • Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy

    • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy

Dr. Thouas has experience in working in a variety of settings including private psychology clinics, hospitals, the Southern Regional Health Authority (as a supervising psychologist to the community mental health workers in the Southern Health Region) and in forensic settings (e.g., correctional Institutions such as Kingston Penitentiary and the Kingston Penitentiary Psychiatric Facility, Millhaven Institution, Joyceville Institution and Bath Institution).

Dr. Thouas completed a Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Manitoba. She also completed an Honours Bachelors degree in Psychology from Lakehead University and a Social Service Worker Diploma from Cambrian College. She is a registered member of the Psychological Association of Manitoba (PAM) and of the Manitoba Psychological Society (MPS).

Dr. Lindsay Woods, Ph.D., C. Psych.

Dr. Lindsay Woods is a Registered Clinical Psychologist that provides assessment and treatment services to adults, children and adolescents.

 

Dr. Woods has training and experience using a variety of psychotherapy models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) but views the foundation of therapy from a client-centred and strength-focused perspective.

 

Dr. Woods has experience working with adults, adolescents, children, parents and families for a wide variety of goals and challenges. One area of special interest is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. This type of therapy is helpful to increase adaptive coping strategies, increase mindfulness, understand emotions and increase interpersonal skills. A second area of special interest is Anxiety issues and Disorders including: Generalized Anxiety Disorder; Panic Disorder; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; and Phobias.

 

Along with her private practice work, Dr. Woods also works with New Directions for Children, Youth, Adults and Families as the Director of Clinical Services with the Multidisciplinary Assessment and Consultation Centre (MACC). She is also  currently the President-Elect of the Manitoba Psychological Society.

Ms. Rajfur Profile

Ms. Angela Rajfur, C.C.C., M.Ed.

Clinical Associate

Ms. Angela Rajfur provides assessment and treatment services for adolescents and adults under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Thouas.  She has experience working with clients with symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma. 

 

Ms. Rajfur works from a client-centered perspective, believing that healing and growth occur by emphasizing an individual’s strengths and values within a safe and supportive environment.  In her practice, Angela employs specific models of psychotherapy including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) in treating trauma-based symptoms.  

Ms. Rajfur is currently completing a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba. She has also earned a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Master's degree in School Psychology from the University of Manitoba. She is also a certified psychotherapist, registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Mr. Reegan Mccheyne provides treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Thouas. He has experience working with clients presenting with symptoms of anxiety (e.g., phobias, separation anxiety, generalized anxiety or excessive worry), sleep difficulties (e.g., children experiencing difficulties sleeping in their own beds), and adults with a recent trauma (i.e., Posttraumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD from a motor vehicle or workplace accident). 

 

Mr. McCheyne has training and experience in providing treatment of anxiety disorders using a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model. In providing treatment of trauma-related disorders Mr. McCheyne uses a Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) model and integrates exposures into his treatment plan. He generally utilizes a client-centred approach to more thoroughly understand his client's perspective and personal experiences. 

 

Mr. McCheyne holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and is in the process of completing a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba.

Ms. Sydney Puhach provides treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Thouas. She enjoys working with clients presenting with symptoms of anxiety (e.g., social phobia, specific phobias, separation anxiety, selective mutism), low mood, and sleep difficulties (e.g., children experiencing difficulties sleeping in their own beds).

 

Ms. Puhach has training in providing treatment using a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model. 

 

Ms. Puhach in nearly complete a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and will begin completing a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba in the fall. 

 

Ms. Childs' profile

Ms. Emily Childs, B.A
Administrative Assistant

Ms. Childs completed a Bachelor of Arts-Advanced Degree at the University of Mantioba and is continuing her studeis through the Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology program and Yorkville University.

Ms. Childs has worked in the community mental health field as a youth program assistant with the Mood Disorders Association of Mantioba and as a Peer Support Worker at the Huddle South Central Youth Hub. She also enjoys volunteering her time  with Kids Help Phone and the Winnipeg Children's Access Agency.

 

 

She is currently registered as a Student Member with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA).
